So what brought me to Flatiron School to learn software engineering? To be honest It wasn’t something that was planned at all. During quarantine I was searching for a career change since I was tired of working these dead end jobs. I wanted something in life to strive towards, and felt fulfilling. So in my pursuit of finding a new career, I did some soul searching to find out what I could see myself possibly doing as a career. I actually came across a few options such as plumbing, HVAC, and getting a CDL license to be a truck driver. All of those options honestly sounded good at first but ultimately after thinking about it, they were just purely for the money, if I’m being honest.

So weeks went by, and one day my girlfriend calls me and shows me a tik-tok of a girl that attended the Flatiron School. So as I was watching the video, she was just explaining her time at Flatiron and how it helped her get the skills to get a good paying job at such a young age. She seemed very content, and was also getting her boyfriend into the program after she graduated so he can start his journey into the field. So from there I figured I would give Flatiron a contact to get more information.

So after getting the information from a Flatiron recruiter I figured after getting all the information about the programs. I felt as if Software Engineering would be the most beneficial to me since I kinda already have my hands in graphic design work, and I’ve assisted some people with designing websites already via Square-space or Shopify. I love creative work, as-well as problem solving. I ultimately think I will be able to put both together and find some happiness, and fulfillment in this field. I’m super excited to start this new journey and I’m glad to be a Flatiron Student.
